Disgruntled and Ripped Off in South Carolina
Have not heard a word from them despite repeated emails, texts, and calls. They are ignoring all the problems that homeowners in this development are having, some more severe than others, some very severe.
Their attitude seems to be we have your money so you can go to *** Supposedly at one year out they provide a warranty fix but no one has seen it or been here long enough to see it. Avoid this builder at all costs. I saw their awful Google ratings and should have followed them. The work is cheap and shoddy and problems abound.
They fired the individual builder and are run by some company out of state now.
All they do is build more homes, sell them and forget them. Not just here either from what I see online.
Won't fix A/C unit, driveway cracks, holes in kitchen (taped over), or anything else all of which were promised in a "punch list" at closing. Closing pressure is intense due to short mortgage company commitment.
- Location
- Model homes
- Defects they wont fix
Severely pitted concrete driveway.
- Poor workmandship
Worse Maintenance department. Don't stay on the words.
- I did not like
I had the same experience with a brand new Ryan home. I had numerous HVAC breakdowns and leaks that I ended up selling the home at a big loss.
I was relieved though to get away from that nightmare. Since their warranty was only a year, I spent quite a lot of money on contractors just fixing leaks, HVAC system, Appliances replaced as repairs were more costly than the appliance. Mind you that the refrigerator, compressor went bad and the dishwasher, motor burned out, occurred 14 months after buying a brand new home. The leaks and HVAC repairs occurred throughout my 4 year ownership except that Ryan only handled those, improperly fixed, for the first year.
After that it was all out of pocket. This is not to mention the other repairs due to shoddy workmanship that had to be fixed during the warranty period. I spent my first year having numerous repairs fixing one issue after another. I felt as if I had bought a brand new handyman special.
The buyer was made aware of the leak issues and various HVAC repairs but felt that the deal he was getting on the home was worth the risk. He also felt that perhaps the kinks were taken out by all of the repairs I had done. Those repairs never stopped and I wish him luck. I have never ruled out ever buying a brand new home in the future.
I will just avoid any that have horrendous reviews like these.
Anyone considering buying a brand new home must read the reviews on the builder. These are not just a few isolated cases!

Khovnanian Homes House Construction Review
I had the BEST experience with K Hovnanian Homes in Ashley Pointe. Ter*** and Tric** made our home building an excellent experience.
We strongly recommend them.
They were very pleasant to work with, answered questions very truthfully and honestly.
Please do your research, Ashley Pointe is not building on the Superfund Site (Brio). Yes, the neighborhood is close, but the actual Superfund Site is owned by the Environmental Protection Agency which doesn't allow residential building.
- Lots to list please check review
Thanks for posting your review Angela.
I was interested to purchase a condo at discovery square, after coming to know about the noise from the floors above I am no longer considering this place any more. I heard about the issue from few other forums and friends too.
- Location of the building
- Total dissatifaction
- Stalling tactics to keep my deposit

K HOV rushes to get you to settlement, creates a punch list of repairs to be made before you even move in and then ignores you for a year. Sales & design staff were good to deal with, but their workmanship & construction managers suck-they beg you to give them a '10' rating on K Hov survey-DON'T DO IT!
